FT: Thank you for joining me. A match report will be published later today.
FT: FC Tokyo 3 Nagoya Grampus 2
90 Min+7: The referee finally blows the whistle to bring the match to a close.
90 Min+6: FC Tokyo making a substitution, Ishikawa being replaced by Sota Hirayama.
90 Min+2: RED CARD Nagoya Grampus midfielder Danilson is sent off after an incident involving Kosuke Ota. I can’t comment without seeing a replay. Several players are surrounding the referee from both sides, Tulio Tanaka particularly vociferous in his opinions about play-acting, and presumably more time will be added to the officially-sanctioned three.
90 Min+1: Yonemoto’s first action is to win a corner.
90 Min: There will be three minutes of added time. FC Tokyo bring Yohei Kajiyama off for Takuji Yonemoto.
90 Min: FC Tokyo 3 Nagoya Grampus 2
87 Min: GOAL! Grampus win a free-kick, Kennedy sliding in with his left foot but which hits the bar. The rebound falls to Kensuke Nagai, who slides the ball past Shiuchi Gonda. A glimmer of hope for the Nagoya team.
81 Min: FC Tokyo’s collective pressing, physicality and vision have been outstanding in this second half, a bigger Grampus outfit well out-played.
78 Min: FC Tokyo 3 Nagoya Grampus 1
73 Min: GOAL! Tulio Tanaka fails to clear with two attempts in the Nagoya Grampus defence, Yohei Kajiyama receiving the ball from an Aria Hasegawa lay-off. Kajiyama directs a lovely pass into the path of Naohiro Ishikawa, and his first time left-footed shot from ten yards goes under Narazaki’s body into the bottom right-hand corner of the goal.
70 Min: Grampus right-midfielder Mu Kanazaki swings a beautiful cross into the penalty area, but an unmarked Kensuke Nagai fails to direct his header on target from six yards.
69 Min: FC Tokyo 2 Nagoya Grampus 1
67 Min: GOAL! FC Tokyo have their second goal and take the lead. After a corner is played short, the cross is hit deep, and Kenichi Kaga heads the ball across goal which Aria Hasegawa nods into the left corner for his first goal for the club.
66 min: FC Tokyo are breaking with pace, Grampus struggling to deal with the skills of Hanyu and Ishikawa. Abe manages to put a foot to a low cross and put it out for a corner. A further corner follows.
64 min: Intricate passing around the Grampus area, Ishikawa and Hanyu heavily involved, falls to Naotake Hanyu. His left-footed shot from the edge of the box is high and wide.
62 min: FC Tokyo 1 Nagoya Grampus 1
59 min: GOAL! After a series of bewitching stepovers from Kosuke Ota taking the ball into the Grampus penalty area, he plays a pass to Aria Hasegawa who feeds it to Naotake Hanyu. Hanyu’s shot is blocked, but it falls to Naohiro Ishikawa, who drills the ball first time into the Grampus net.
59 Min: A cross is played low across the FC Tokyo box, which falls just behind Kennedy.
58 Min: Interesting decision from the referee. Joshua Kennedy is brought down, and plays the free-kick deliberately against a defender who obviously fails to retreat. The referee waves play on.
56 Min: A promising break for FC Tokyo breaks down when Tokunaga miscontrols and then brings down Shohei Abe.
54 Min: A period of possession for FC Tokyo. However, pressing from Nagoya Grampus forces the Gas Men from the edge of the penalty area all the way to Shuichi Gonda, and play breaks down with an overhit pass which is collected by Narazaki in the Grampus goal.
48 Min: Kenichi Kaga strikes a fierce drive from the left-edge of the penalty area which strikes Grampus defender Tulio Tanaka, deflecting for a corner, subsequently headed away.
48 Min: With a break in play for an injury, former Grampus player and current manager Dragan Stojković is interviewed. He says that he is happy with the tactical ability of the players in the first half and deserved the lead.
45 Min: Back underway at the Ajinomoto Stadium, and Nagoya Grampus immediately have a corner after confusion between Gonda and Miroshige. The corner is cleared.
HT: The players have returned to the field, an unhappy-looking FC Tokyo coach Ranko Popovic currently being interviewed by Japanese television on the sidelines. The Gas Men created very little of note in the first half, Lucas failed to find Tokunaga when in plenty of space in the penalty area.
45 Min: The whistle goes for half-time after a first-half light on quality and incident, Joshua Kennedy’s lovely pass which allowed Tamada to finish easily the obvious highlight.
45 Min: Tulio Tanaka goes down clutching his face following a challenge from Yohei Kajiyama. The midfielder’s arm comes across Tanaka’s neck in trying to find a position to control a pass on his chest, seemingly accidentally. The defender’s protestations are ignored, correctly, by the referee.
44 Min: Kennedy is being very closely marked by FC Tokyo, sometimes fairly, sometimes not. He’s clearly pulled by Tokunaga but the free-kick is not given.
41 Min: Weather conditions are definitely affecting play. Joshua Kennedy slips hitting a tame shot from the left-hand edge of the penalty area, which Gonda fails to hold at the first attempt and which spins behind him. The keeper’s blushes are spared, however, as there isn’t enough power on the ball to trickle into the net
40 Min: Morishige harshly penalised for FC Tokyo near the corner flag, Tamada whipping ovr the subsequent free-kick which Gonda just gets a palm to, sending it for a corner. The corner is wasted.
38 min: FC Tokyo 0 Nagoya Grampus 1
36 Min: GOAL! Joshua Kennedy picks up a loose ball near the halfway line, and threads a perfectly weighted pass for Keiji Tamada to run on to. Tamada controls and clips the ball over the advancing Gonda into the bottom right-hand corner of the net.
36 Min: Tulio Tanaka becomes the third player to hit an aimless shot from distance. Poor from the Grampus defender.
35 Min: A hint of an opportunity for Tamada after a lofted free-kick is sent into the FC Tokyo box, but he is crowded out.
33 Min: A second yellow card for Nagoya Grampus.
30 Min: FC Tokyo have come into the match in the last 15 minutes, Naohira Ishikawa pulling strings in the midfield, but thus far no clear opportunities have been created for either side.
30 Min: Last season’s highest scorer Joshua Kennedy is being well marshalled by the FC Tokyo defence.
28 Min: Naohiro Iskiwa swings over a corner for FC Tokyo from the left, cleared with a strong header by Danilson for a throw.
24 min: A quick note on the formations. Nagoya Grampus employing a 4-4-2 (at times a 4-2-2-2), FC Tokyo using a 4-2-3-1.
23 Min: Lucas, for FC Tokyo, follows Danilson in sending a long-range effort into the stands.
21 Min: The commentator just pointing out the typical size of the “Grampus Wall”, that being no player under 6’1″ when defending free-kicks.
18 Min: Musukawa makes a mess of a simple defensive header, Narazaki unable to prevent the ball rolling out for an FC Tokyo corner. Tulio Tanaka clears at the back.
16 min: Proving me wrong, a lovely interchange between Lucas and Ishikawa brings in Huhei Tokunaga, resulting in a shot blocked for a corner. The corner comes to naught, a foul from Lucas on Tulio Tanaka handing possession back to Grampus.
15 Min: FC Tokyo struggling to weave passes together in the final third.
13 Min: Hayuma Tanaka is first into the book for a cynical lunge on Kosuke Ota.
12 Min: A shot from 25 yards from Danilson sails several yards over the FC Tokyo crossbar.
10 min: Yuhei Tokunaga shins the ball back to Gonda in the FC Tokyo goal, who can only direct his clearance straight into touch.
8 Min: Shuichi Gonda is called into action for the first and probably not last time during this match, saving well from an arcing effort, again from Nagai. Nagoya Grampus making all the early running in this match.
6 Min: Nagoya Grampus appear to be settling into an early passing rhythm. A dreadful pass puts Kosuke Ota in difficulty in the FC Tokyo defensive, intercepted but the cross is just a little too deep for the advancing attackers.
3 Min: Kensuke Nagai, starting for Nagoya Grampus, whistles a left-footed drive narrowly wide of the left post.
0 Min: Nagoya Grampus kick-off.
0 Min: The teams are out on the field. We’re just moments from getting underway.
