Kosuke Ota leaves Shimizu S-Pulse for FC Tokyo

The Shimizu S-Pulse left-back Kosuke Ota, a first choice selection in the 2011 season making 33 starts, has chosen to leave the Shizuoka Prefecture club after three seasons for the newly promoted FC Tokyo. Thanking everyone at S-Pa for a successful three years, the 24 year-old Tokyo native added:

It was a very difficult decision but [he felt] it was necessary to change my footballing environment.

Ota, whose sole appearance for the Samurai Blue came in a 3-2 victory over Yemen in a qualification game for the 2011 AFC Asian Cup, will benefit from an immediate opportunity to play in the AFC Champions League in a push to become a regular national squad selection.
